April 5, 2022 - Mmmm...It's National Caramel Day!
One of my favorite sweet things. Caramel can come in many different forms: hard candy, medium chewyness or ooey gooey. And while it may seem very daunting, caramel is really not that hard to make.

I will share with you my favorite ooey gooey Salted Caramel recipe. Only 4 ingredients! You can keep in in a jar in the fridge, top ice cream with it, use it in a layer cake, use it in cupcakes or add it to a buttercream. A really delicious Salted Caramel will never go to waste.
Salted Caramel Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup sugar
6 tbsp butter, in pieces
1/2 cup heavy cream, room temp
1 tsp salt
Instructions
Heat sugar in sauce pan. It's ok to stir it around and break it up when it crystalizes, stir, make sure temp is not too hot. Medium heat will do. Be patient.
Once sugar is dissolved and reaches amber in color, add cream, but be careful - it will bubble up - don't burn yourself, stir to combine.
Cook one minute until incorporated. Adjust heat lower if needed, you don't want burnt caramel.
Next add butter and keep mixing, until melted.
Let boil 1 minute, stirring the whole time.
Take off heat, add salt.
Cool before use as it will be lava hot right away.
ENJOY!
