Making Asian Lettuce Wraps at home - easier than you think!
This is often a dish you order in restaurants, but it can be made at home so easily! Try it!
Asian Lettuce Wraps
1 lb ground pork or ground chicken
1 onion, diced
2 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp salt
2 cloves garlic, smashed and chopped
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup hoisin sauce
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp sriracha (more or less to your preferred heat level)
Lettuce leaves for filling, your choice of lettuce
Veggies of your preference for topping: carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, cilantro etc.
Add 2 tbsp olive oil to a medium heat pan. Add onions and 1/4 tsp salt. Sauté until golden, approx. 5-7 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix soy sauce, hoisin, lemon juice and ground ginger. Set aside.
Add garlic to onions, sauté another minute.
Add ground meat to onion mixture. Sauté until cooked through.
Add sauce to ground meat and onion mixture and let simmer another 3-5 minutes.
Take off heat and let cool.
Prepare Sriracha mayo, by mixing mayonnaise and sriracha. Set aside.
Prepare you veggies for topping.
Meat can be used hot, at room temp or cold. Your preference.
Add meat mixture to lettuce boat, top with veg and Sriracha mayo. It's going to be messy, but delicious!
